Plenty of Android five Lollipop users have reported error 905 while installing or updating apps in Google Play Store. I am not exactly definite what the cause is but it said to be related to poor memory management or memory leak. I got the error 905 while downloading an app right after I updated my Jellybean to Lollipop. The update or download bar would show but it would not work and sometimes the Google Play would force close. This issue might also plague older Android operating systems. Android users are getting this error mostly when the downloading large apps or games like Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Word, Excel Asphalt 8, Monument valley, Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft etc. Digging around the world wide web  found a couple of feasible solution or fix for the error 905 in Google Play Store. The Error appears in this exact format- "Mortal Kombat X" could not be downloaded due to a mistake (905) .

Technique one: Keeping screen on in the coursework of app update or download in Google Play Store

Go to Settings >> Display >> Screen timeout (Sleep) >> Keep screen turned on (or set timer to the highest feasible value)
Open Google Play Store >> Download your app that was causing error 905
Do not return or close Google Play Store until the download and installation is completed.

Technique two: Close background apps


 If the above methods did not work, try the below

Sign out of apps that run in the background
Go to Settings >> Apps >> Walking >> Check apps that are taking much MB or memory >> Cease or sign out of these apps
Open Google Play Store and try to install/update app

Technique three: Uninstalling updates for Google Play Store
Go to Settings >> Apps >> All Scroll down till you find  a Google Play Store
Select  an Uninstall updates  Open Google Play Store >> Install or update the app
 Note: Your Google play Store will automatically update later but you will no longer get the 905 error.
